The 18 cards game format is very challenging for 2 players
Main Post:
I am at my fifth prototype for an 18 cards for 2 players and I am really struggling. I try to keep the ButtonShy guidelines so extra components are not allowed. I would like to create a game with some strategic depth but I invariably feel that my design are not that interesting 🤔. It very hard to offer interesting choices and especially any sort of resources tracking for 2 players as you have to sacrifice 2 cards per player to achieve this.. Do you have any experience in this format? I would like to hear your experience!

Top Comment: I've mentored game design students doing this challenge. Their games were very varied and creative. There's a lot you can do with 18 cards, but there's also a lot you can't do. Tracking resources can be done in a variety of ways, for example the orientation of the cards or using one card to cover numbers on another card. As an experiment to test the limitations of the format you can take a strategy game you like and try to "shrink" it to 18 cards, eliminating all other components. How close can you get to a playable, interesting game? That can give you a good grasp on your constraints.

Top Comment: I fucking hate the sepia color. I really hope that Blizzard has heard enough feedback not to do that again. The full card art should be colorful. The way Pokemon does it is much better than this shit.

Alienware 18 restarting and not detecting discrete graphic cards
Main Post:
My alienware 18 is really old and it suddenly hangs then blackscreen then restarts itself switching to the intel hd graphics. When it does this i check the BIOS and found that the discrete graphic cards were not detected and after 10min or so i could then switch using fn+f5 to the dedicated graphics card.
It seems like the graphics cards are suddenly undetected then detected after a around 10min. Any help is appreciated

Could be one or both GPU are dying. You're going to have to troubleshoot those. I'd start by removing the extra gpu in SLI/Crossfire and seeing how it runs. If that still has the same issue, flash the slave GPU to a master vbios and put it in the master slot. If all works with the newly flashed card, then your old master card probably failed. If you still have issues, it could be a motherboard issue - something may have failed around the GPUs on the motherboard.
What GPUs do you have? Might be worth it to upgrade, since the 18 can still game and is very easy to work on.
How many credit cards should I have if I'm 18 yr old?
Main Post:
I don't know if I'm on the correct track. I have 5 credit cards, and I recently got approved for my 6th. But, are these too much? Opening my 6th account made me think maybe I'm rushing to build credit. There have passed 7 months since I got my first one, which was Discover it. My general credit limit is $1,850 and my monthly income is about $1700. I'm wondering if this will have an impact in the future because I got cards with low credit limits. My actual score is 670, it goes lower and higher but not higher than 700. I know it takes time to build credit but I wanted to get some advice for the future. I'm a college student so I'm aspiring for better things.
Here is the list of my cards:
- Discover it: $500 limit
- Chase Freedom Rise: $500 limit
- Capital One Platinum Secured: $200 limit
- OpenSky Secured Card: $200 limit
- 1st Financial Bank Visa Gold Card: $150 limit
- Capital One Savor One: $300 limit
Top Comment: You should have one card that is aging for 6-12 months to prep for your next card and showing good payment history. Your rush has got a lot of deadweight on your profile. You need to let the accounts you already have age and build up positive payment history before you're going to be able to get better cards/higher limits/better scores. I'd expect you'll be closing the Opensky, 1st, and probably C1 Plat eventually. The Discover will grow okay. The Rise may product change to a Freedom, which are decent cards. The Savor One is a good card but that $300 limit makes me worry it's a bucketed card that's not going to grow well. Pump the brakes, it's a marathon not a sprint.

Top Comment: Literally would have been unfathomable back then. I’m really enjoying the gameplay right now too, can’t wait for EA to ruin the power curve.

That's gotta be a record, surely.
Top Comment: Also 30 combined shot attempts, and the game-winning goal deep into stoppage time. Absolutely insane game.
iOS 18.1 Access NFC Cards
Main Post:
What are everyone’s thoughts about iOS 18.1 allowing third party apps to use the NFC function? Will we see tap to open on unifi card readers?
Top Comment: I would love if it was integrated with the Apple wallet. That way I could use the express keys
